EMSCC2's blog

Thank you to the parents who have donated to the EMSCC fundraising campaign!

We have started to receive some donations for the OUTDOOR LEARNING SPACE Fundraising Campaign - thank you to those who have dropped off donations or sent them to school with their children!

Our goal is to raise $15,000 in order to purchase and install an outdoor seating space for 30 students.  So far, 10 families have donated a collective amount of $545!

Our new grand total we have towards this project is now $5,900!

If your workplace offers a community grant or if they will sponsor your child's school - please let us know.  We would be happy to work with community and business partners to help accelerate our fundraising efforts!

Please consider this as an opportunity to help make our children's school a better place!  Thank you for getting involved.

The information sheet is attached to this email.  Please call Terri Navid at 306-535-1815 if you have any questions or email at terri.navid@sasktel.net

Thank you for donating to the Outdoor Learning Space Fundraising Campaign!

The EMSCC would like to thank one of our Ethel Milliken parents: Stephanie Tingley of Bravo Tango Advertising Agency for generously donating time and talent to provide the Outdoor Learning Space flyer.

Outdoor Learning Space at Ethel Milliken!

The EMSCC (Ethel Milliken School Community Council) is working on a project to install an outdoor learning space at the school.  It will require a tremendous amount of fundraising and community involvement!   We are asking for your assistance:

1.      Flyers will be coming home today with the youngest family member at school.  On the flyer there is a detachable portion to be returned along with payment back to the child’s teacher.  Because this is a capital project, this is considered to be a charitable donation so we can then issue a tax receipt! (see details on the form)

Cheques must be made payable to EMSCC.

2.      We hope to collect enough funds in this first campaign to start the STAGE 1 project which includes picnic table seating for 30 students.  The estimate cost is $15,000.  Once that project is complete, we will begin a second campaign to fundraise for a shaded cover for the outdoor learning space.   Please see the flyers or the school website for more details!

3.      If you have any great ideas on how to ramp up the fundraising efforts, we are interested to hear from you.  We welcome feedback and ideas!  If you wish to get involved and help with this project - just let  us know!  You can email Terri Navid at terri.navid@sasktel.net or txt her at 306-535-1815 or talk to the principal Mr. Miezianko.

Thank you for helping to make your child's school at better place to learn and grow!

Parents and Students at Ethel Milliken,

I want to personally apologize to those of you who took the time to attend our failed movie night in 2015 and I want to further apologize to those who volunteered their time to help set the movie night up for success. I am extremely thankful for all of your support for the movie night and, more broadly, for the work of the EMSCC.

Staff appreciation week at Ethel Milliken

Did you miss our Staff Appreciation potluck red carpet events?  No Worries - the EMSCC encourages you to shower the staff with swag on Favorite Things Friday!  Have a look at our list (attachment) to get to know our teachers, administrators, support and building staff a bit better.  If you can think of a token of appreciation to give to the men and women who look after our kids every day, just slip it into your child's packpack Friday morning!

Thank you for your help all week in making our Ethel Milliken staff feel like stars.

Ethel Milliken Staff Appreciation Week February 8th to February 12th!

Next week is Staff Appreciation Week at Ethel Milliken School!

It’s the time of year when we thank the staff of Ethel Milliken School for all the problems solved, lessons learned and of course for molding our kids into fine, upstanding citizens. The theme this year is THE OSCARS so let's give our teachers and staff the STAR treatment!

The EMSCC has a dynamite week planned.

On Monday we’ll have a popcorn bar.

Tuesday, we’re hosting a hot breakfast.

On Wednesday, we’ll deliver hot drinks.

Thursday is a potluck lunch.

The EMSCC has Monday and Wednesday covered, but we’d LOVE for you to bring a dish to either our Tuesday breakfast or Thursday lunch. Check out Volunteer Spot for details.

We are hoping all the families can get board in some way!  Friday is Favourite Things Day! We will publish a list of your child’s teacher’s favourite foods, color, song, etc. and we encourage you to shower your teacher with a simple token of your appreciation.

Your child may come home with a coloring project to give to their teacher or other staff member,  so please help them show their appreciation!

The Ethel Milliken School Community Council thanks you for help in recognizing the amazing staff we have at our school.

Let's celebrate the great work of the staff at Ethel Milliken School!
