History in the Making

Congratulations to our grade 8 students who participated in a lovely outdoor farewell ceremony last evening. Thanks to the grade 8 teachers and all the staff who invested a lot of time to ensure we could host this wonderful event despite out health restrictions and guidelines! Special thanks to Rachel from Still Life Photography who took professional photos. These photos will be available to grade 8 families to download free of charge in 2 weeks time! Grade 8 families, keep checking your e-mail for the link! We wish you the best of luck in high school eagles; continue to soar!

Supervision of Students

As the weather gets warmer, we have seen an increase in students wanting to arrive at school early or stay at school late. It is important to remember that there is no supervision available to students who do not ride the bus until 8:53 and after school all supervision ends at 3:37 for students who do not ride the bus.

Non-bus students should not be on the school property before 8:53 or after 3:37. Parents and guardians are not to be on the school playground between the hours of 8:53-3:37. You are welcome to return to the school to supervise your children playing after 3:37.

Beware of Bicycle Thieves

Unfortunately, some brazen thieves have cut a bike lock and ridden away with a student bike. Students who ride to school are encouraged to wear a bike helmet which they should store in their backpack or locker and to lock their bike up using a "D" or "U" lock. These are the hardest ones to cut according to the City Police. You can purchase a "D" lock from many retailers such as Canadian Tire, Walmart, Western Cycle etc.

Happy PRIDE day!

Thank you to staff and students from our GSA and our SRC for painting our rainbow crosswalk and rainbow entrance last evening to "surPRIDEse" our students on PRIDE day. At Ethel Milliken, we believe and support the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that says: "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood." On PRIDE day we celebrate that in our school, everyone belongs and everyone is important and special.
