Masks Required on Public Transit

OCTOBER 15, 2020 -- As COVID-19 cases increase in our city, Regina Transit is reminding all passengers to continue to wear masks on public transit. Starting on October 19, 2020, Regina Transit will be denying service to elementary and high school students who do not wear a mask or alternative face coverings while boarding and riding the bus.

Terry Fox Neon Day

On September 1, 1980, after running for 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 miles) Terry stopped running outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario as his cancer had spread to his lungs. Each year, Canadians participate in a run to raise funds for Cancer research and to keep Terry's Marathon of Hope alive. Although we cannot collect donations or do a whole school Terry Fox run, we are asking students to dress in 1980's neon on Friday, October 2. Teachers may choose to take their own individual class out for a walk or run in Terry's memory that day.

Orange Shirt Day

September 30 is Orange Shirt Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear orange shirts to honour the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada and to learn more about the history of those schools.

note about classes

We have had several calls and e-mails from families wanting to switch student classes for a variety of reasons. In the spring, our staff spent many days thoughtfully creating classrooms for the fall. As we received new students, we placed them in classrooms paying careful attention to creating similar sized cohorts. Our teachers have been working very hard to prepare for their students and to ensure safety is a priority. Our focus will be on safety and on education. Many people would like their child to be with a certain teacher or a certain friend but we will not be making class changes.
